πŸ’§ Makuru is upon us – the Noongar season of c πŸ’§ Makuru is upon us – the Noongar season of cold and rain, marked by the colour dark blue.
This is the wettest and coldest time of year in the South West. Traditionally, Noongar people moved inland during this season as waterways filled and food sources shifted to the land, especially kangaroos, which provided meat, skins (bookas), and tools.
Makuru also sees ravens pairing up, black swans nesting, and the first blooms of blueberry lilies and purple flags.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land and thank them for their enduring care of Country.

🀝 National Reconciliation Week reminds us that 🀝 National Reconciliation Week reminds us that reconciliation is ongoing – not a moment, but a movement.
The 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, invites us to reflect on the past, act in the present, and walk together toward a better future.
At Blue Leaf, we are committed to learning from and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We honour their histories, cultures, and contributions and embed cultural respect across all we do.

This week, we reaffirm our role in reconciliation – by listening, learning and taking action.
Let’s bridge now to next – together.

#NVW2025 #ConnectingCommunities #VolunteersChangeLives

We acknowledge Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities as the Traditional Custodians of the land we work on and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We recognise that their sovereignty was never ceded.

We celebrate, value and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, bodies and abilities.

We recognise and honour the lived experiences of those impacted by suicide, mental ill health, and those who have supported loved ones through these challenges. Your strength and resilience inspire our work and commitment to a compassionate and supportive community.
